What are some different ways to remove unused computer programs?

First off, I am pretty computer illiterate so please bear with me. I am running Windows XP and am trying to remove a game that was installed but I don’t ever use. Windows estimates it to use 803MB. When I go through the “add or remove programs” function through Windows the program shows up on the list but can not be found for the removal process. Is there another way to delete the program?
