How do you write the hard drive on a Gateway computer back to zero’s?

I have an older Gateway desktop computer that currently has Windows XP as the O.S. I am giving away this computer and I want to make sure all of my information is wiped off the hard drive. Can anyone tell me how to write the computer back to zero’s or what to do to clear out the hard drive. It is a Intel Pentium111. When the computer was new it came with Microsoft Windows 98 on it. just get a disk scrunbber prog of the net. i believe norton makes one and some othe companies also. it will comletly scrub your hdd so nothing will be foiud. or you could just use a huge magnet but tht could ruin you drive
