Portable Computer Desk

Is there any real benefits to having a desk lap top vs. desk top computer?

other than the obvious (size & portable) is there anything that I cant do on a lap top, that i can do on a desk top?

Desktop computers are better for home use. I like using my laptop on the train and in college for movies and work.
